TREASURE LAND Guitarist To Release Instructional Book

October 12, 2007

Guitarist Jonas Hörnqvist of the Swedish neo-classical/prog metal band TREASURE LAND has announced that his instructional book series which covers the topic of "guitar technique' will be released by one of Scandinavia's largest music publishers. The goal of these books is to improve a player's speed and accuracy as well as to show him/her how to use his/her technical ability in a musical context.

Jonas will mainly cover techniques derived from classical, jazz, and rock music. There will be a full band accompanying Jonas on the exercises in the books so that the student can hear how the technique sounds in relation to actual music, instead of just a metronome.

Jonas' books include tablature as well as fingering charts for all of the exercises.

The first book will include over 187 exercises that help to improve picking technique and left hand strength. Here is a list of some of the topics Jonas will cover in his first book:

* Warm-up exercises for both hands
* Stretching exercises
* Muting techniques
* Single-string exercises with open strings, slides, and various combinations
* Two-, three-, and four-string exercises
* Inside/outside picking
* How to use the chromatic scale in a more musical context
* Pivoting
* The harmonic minor scale
* Diminished licks
* Sweep picking
* Exotic scales

The books will debut in Swedish and be available for the Scandinavian market initially, but an English version is expected to be released at a later date.
